I'm assistant professor in School of Education, chairperson of Instructional Technology. This is my 4th year at NYIT. My past experience includes professional development in instructional technology and graduate instruction in instructional and assistive technology for K-12 teachers. At NYIT I serve on the Senate, the Academic Curriculum committee and the Core Curriculum Committee. I've worked with performance-based assement and e-porfolios for several years.
Sarah,
Thanks for your help posting the humanities and science material. Getting accustomed to this environment is taking me some time and I really appreciate you taking yours to give me a hand.

I tried to add a comment and it would not attach the file. I am finding NING to be a bit frustrating. Would really like to be able to share some of this in a user friendly interactive environment. Will e-mail you the texts I am trying to bring in as attachments.
The approach is case-based within small groups of 4-5 students. At the beginning of class there is a reader of the case- the case is then distributed to the groups.Students are required to bring lap-tops to class, as they will have to research all that they do not know regarding the clinical case in occupational therapy. Large sheets of white paper are posted on the walls for each groups brainstorming and organization of knowledge- The instructor serves as a facilitator to help the groups along- As the case develops I ask that they end with the development of an occupational science research question related to occupation relevant to their case-
The students enjoyed this learning format and gave great feedback to improve the class- Overall the method promotes collaboration, critical thinking and integration of all they have learned -
Hi Sarah,
I hope to become more familiar and comfortable with instructional technology in the classroom. The Case Study Method at Harvard video is excellent- Last fall I incorporated the Problem Based Learning Method in Occupational Science, and I hope to continue to study the effectiveness of this method -

Anna left me the question below. Is this possible?
"Dan,
I would like to keep files on this server. Is this possible? I only see an option to save a photo or video. Anna "
